Trike 2 Day 8

Today marks the final day in the shop for the trike! Handlebars were welded on, idler was mounted, crank was welded on, and now all that's left to be done is routing the chain, routing the brake cables, painting the frame, and gluing on some foam to the seat!

Fairing design is already underway, and I will begin constructing a plug to make a mold from very soon!!

Trike 2 Build Day 7

Hi everyone! Today I fastened the seat to the frame, and I'm going to start looking for foam that I can glue to the seat back, if you have any suggestions, please, let me know! Also I put in my steering tie rod, and we now have linked front wheels! Next comes handlebars, chain management, then brake hookup! After that, only paint remains. Since the trike is now in its rolling frame stage and can be measured, this also means that fairing construction can begin, and I have made one scale drawing (top view) of what it will look like!

Trike 2 Build Day 6

MIG Welder issues resolved, I got myself into the shop and went into overdrive. I apologize, but I completely blew off taking videos and I only took some pictures of important things. However, in the 6 and a half hours I was in there, I managed to get a TON done. We now have a rolling frame! Development of the fairing can now begin. I will work on the fairing at home while the trike is still at the shop. Thanks for reading! And check back often for updates!

Trike 2 Day 5

Today i got my axle tabs all finished up and welded them onto my head tubes at an angle for my centerpoint steering. Unfortunately, the ban saw that I would have used to make the steering arms had a dull blade.

Consequently, I could not make my steering arms. Hopefully this can get sorted out this week, as I cannot continue the build until that blade is replaced, and I don't know where those blades are in the shop!

Trike 2 Day 4 Part II

Today I made the axle tabs I will use to attach to my head tubes! They are 3/8'' thick and look very nice! Tomorrow I will set up the center point steering and also get the wheels attached to the frame if all goes to plan!

Trike 2 Day 4 Part I

Today I went to the shop to put on my front wheels, and it turns out i got the wrong sized part from the bike shop! :(

Tomorrow I will get this sorted out, and hopefully this weekend we'll have a rolling frame!!

Trike 2 Day 1

Today was officially my first work day on the new trikes! I got the rear end done and welded onto the main support tube in just a few hours!

More to come soon! Videos will be posted to Youtube as soon as I figure out computer issues!

Featured in LION

Today, the school newspaper, "LION" was given out, and Trike Trek '11 got a half page spread in it!! I was very pleased with the story, although there were two minor mistakes - one is that Dan lives in IL, not WI. And the other is that the new trikes will use DRUM brakes, not DISC brakes. But either way, they did a great job and I'm very happy with it!
